1 U$ = 58 Rupees. It's impossible to get cash dollars, but you can make traveller cheques.
Roads
The road coming down from China is washed away in some parts, the rest is good. But there aren't that many roads.

Dangerous, a friend of mine was run over by a bus.

No problem.
Food
Kathmandu is famous for it's food. It's almost impossible to find nepalese food, but no problem to eat any kind of western food.
Language
There are so many tourists that everybody understands english.
Prices
Very cheap.
Bicycle parts
I needed a new 28'' rim and I found one. It's not the best place to look for bicycle parts, but it's much better than China or India.
