China

Route: Erlian-Hohhot ca. 350 km. mostly flat, all paved.
Hohhot-Yinchuan: ca. 750 Km, completely flat, all paved.
Yinchuan-Golmud ca. 1440 km, all paved, hilly, but never steep.
Golmud-Lhasa 1150 km. all paved, road up to over 5200 meters, but generally fairly flat after the first long climb to Kunlun pass.
Maps: Worldcart map of China. Plus a chinese road atlas, very very precise, but no altitude.
Cost Still cheap.
Visa: Easy. Usually 1 month, but depends where you get the visa. Max. 3 months, but can be extended. In Hongkong it's possible to get business visa.
Traffic At times lots of traffic, but they are building highways everywhere in China, so it's not too bad. Loud, but never felt it was dangerous.
Accomodation: Inner Mongolia and Tibet camping. Along the Huang He possible, but there are small cheap hotels in all the small villages. Between Yinchuan and Golmud a mixture between camping and small hotels.
Food: Never a problem on this route. Inner Mongolia all paved, so you're fast. Between Golmud and Lhasa there are enough villages plus right now they are building a railroad, lots of construction workers camps.
Language .Still nobody ever understood what I tried to say in Chinese.
Bike parts For mountain bikes it's easy to find things. Don't know about the quality. For 28" bikes almost impossible.
